On January 8, 2025, the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Montreal, Eugene Czolij, signed the book of condolences at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal and expressed condolences to the U.S. Consul General in Montreal, Robert P. Sanders, on the passing of the 39th U.S. President, Jimmy Carter.

Eugene Czolij wrote in the book of condolences: “On the passing of the 39th President of the United States Jimmy Carter, I wish to express sincere condolences to his family and the American people. President Carter was deeply committed to the Christian faith and devoted his life to promoting democratic values and defending basic human rights. Ukrainians are very grateful that President Carter supported them during Russia’s genocidal war against Ukraine. Memory Eternal! Вічна йому пам'ять і Царство Небесне! ”.
